Information about the stingray leather: The stingray leather we use is from the belly part of the stingray. In the middle, the ray has a slightly coarser structure, the so-called eye. The belly part looks like one caviar pearl next to the other. These small pearls are hornifications of the skate. First the leather is tanned and then sanded, so that it gets the beautiful shine. Due to the different nature of each ray skin, the color result after the tanning process can always be slightly different. This reinforces the uniqueness of each piece of jewelry. Skate is a popular food fish and is caught for consumption. The leather is therefore a by-product. The stingray is not under species protection.
